About the Scholarship

Easing the Burden, Encouraging the Journey

The Order of the Lamp offers scholarships and grants to African-American high school graduates from Glen Rock High School and Ridgewood High School. Unlike many programs, our scholarships support students throughout all four years of their undergraduate education — helping ease the burden of tuition so recipients can focus on academic success and giving back to their communities.

Over the years, we have provided significant financial support to recipients accepted into leading colleges and universities across the United States.

Application Requirements

Must be an African-American high school graduate of Glen Rock High School or Ridgewood High School.
Scholarships support recipients throughout all four years of undergraduate college education.
Award recipients must attend the annual awards luncheon in June or have a representative present.
Only transcripts bearing the official high school letterhead, whether official or unofficial, will be accepted.
A brief statement (no more than two paragraphs) summarizing your academic career, key achievements, and reasons for applying is required.

Key Dates

Applications must be requested each year by January 15th to receive a scholarship, grant, or aid if applying by mail.
Applications must be received no later than February 15th of each year.

Mark your calendar early — request your application by January 15 and submit all materials by February 15 each year.
